There are several operating systems available, notably Linux and macOS. However, Microsoft’s Windows is the main operating system in the current period. The windows have been with us for quite some time. The original Windows operating system was introduced in 1985 and is continually evolving. Windows, like any other technology, has evolved through time. It is currently available in a whopping 138 different languages. Windows has dominated the market, having 90 percent of the global market, exceeding Apple’s Mac OS. Commercial variants of Windows were first designed to be easily usable on a single-user PC without a data connection and therefore did not include protection mechanisms from the beginning.

However, while Windows NT and its predecessors are intended for protection and multi-user PCs, they also weren’t initially constructed with Web security features, as Internet access was less widespread when it was first initiated in the mid-1990s. With that much popularity, there is no doubt that there are some issues to be faced while interacting with them either while installing or upgrading the windows. Nobody can actually know how many systems have undergone an upgrade and how many had issues with installation or upgrades. But with the amount of usage of windows, even a small number of errors are extensive. Let us discuss the common errors that occur in detail.
Product Key issue while upgrading an outdated version to the latest:
While upgrading from an original outdated version of windows there is no need to find a new product key for the updated version if any dialog box appears asking for the same. There is a very high probability of windows recognizing the error and stop asking for it. So, if the dialog box appears you can just skip the step. But it may take a couple of days for windows to recognize the error. If it keeps showing the prompt repeatedly there is a way to get it done.
While upgrading you must do the upgrade without removing the older version. This way Microsoft confirms the originality of the prior version and will provide an original version of the upgrade. Microsoft refers to this as a “digital entitlement.” You may install or reinstall any version of windows in a variety of methods after your system has a digital entitlement, and Microsoft would always recognize that your system is approved for an authentic copy of Windows. The only trick to get a hassle-free up-gradation of the versions is through this way or if we wipe out all prior version data before upgrading it also removes all the data that proves the authenticity of the prior versions which would make it complicated. After you’ve completed the in-place update, you may reboot from the same setup Disc and do a fresh install, erasing your hard disk drive partitions.
Installer malfunctions:
When the installer malfunctions, it might hang or reboot continuously.

The most important thing we must check when this happens is to make sure that no unwanted hardware other than the main drive that is involved in installation is connected. Disconnect any external hard drive or other peripherals that are not needed and if possible, plugging into a router with the help of a LAN cable rather than Wi-Fi might also help. Then we must make sure that the upgrade that is being initiated is the correct one, like the 32-bit version for a 32-bit system. If the prior version of windows is the home version, then the upgrade should also be the home version. Run the upgrade again after making the changes if any. If the issue keeps coming the best instruction given by the manufacturers is to use the “media creation tool” to create a bootable device. If it still does not work you can wait because Microsoft keeps solving a lot of bugs on an everyday basis, and you might be affected by one or two of them.
The famous “Something happened 0x80070005-0x90002″ Error:
This type of error is commonly seen in windows while installing. Especially the 80070005 error, this error generally means that the file needed to work with has some issue and the installer cannot work any further.
To solve this issue, you can try disabling all your antivirus and firewalls. Since you are getting an upgrade there are chances that some files might be unrecognized by the antiviruses and firewalls resulting in the blockage of the file. You can try running the installer once again but from the windows update. If it still does not work enable the antivirus and firewall and then run the DISM tool to solve the issue.
0xC1900101-0x20017, -0x30018, -0x20004 and other errors:
When the installation terminated with an exception during the INSTALL_RECOVERY_ENVIRONMENT procedure during the SAFE_OS phase error with this description occur. This is yet another Windows installation problem that dates back to Windows 8.

Many users claim that these issues occur in tandem with freezes and collapses of variable degree and duration. There really is a six-page discussion about this on the Microsoft Answers site, a lot longer one on Reddit, and many more all across the Internet, but nobody really appears to have discovered a comprehensive solution. This is why it is advised to upgrade or install the Windows during a weekend or when you at least have 2 spare days to devote to this. In that time, you can try different solutions given on the internet.
After basic installation issues, which usually result in freezes or reboots, the most common issue we hear about is bad drivers. Quite often the driver issue comes just after installing Windows. Issues may not show until you’ve rebooted the laptop several times and enabled Microsoft’s forced upgrades to wipe away your reliable drivers. There are ways mentioned to solve this issue on Microsoft’s Answer Forum that can be applied to the issues in question. You might face issues with the start menu or Cortana too. The primary discussion for this issue on the Microsoft Answers forum has grown to more than 73 pages, with thousands of users weighing in to say they, too, have experienced the issue.
