    How does VPN works?

VPN creates the secure connection between you and the internet. When you connect to  the internet via a VPN, all your traffic is sent through an encrypted virtual tunnel.  In other word VPN gives you online privacy and anonymity by creating a private network from a public internet connection. VPNs mask your internet protocol (IP) address so your online action are virtually untraceable. Most important, VPN services establish secure and encrypted connections to provide greater privacy than even a secured Wi-Fi hotspot.

    How Does VPN work?

After subscribing to a VPN router, you can usually download and install an easy application on your Smartphone on your Smartphone, tablet or computer. you can select your preferred security settings and set up a safe connection with your desired  VPN server. Connection to a VPN is easy. When connection is made following things will happen to your data.

    1. The VPN software on your computer encrypts your data traffic and sends it (via your Internet Service Provider) to the VPN server through a secure connection.
    2. The encrypted data from your computer is decrypted by the VPN server.
    3. The VPN server will send your data on to the internet and receive a reply, which is meant for you, the user.
    4. The traffic is then encrypted again by the VPN-server and is sent back to you.
    5. The VPN-software on your device will decrypt the data so you can actually understand and use it.

The VPN connection will encrypt your data traffic, making it much more difficult for hackersand other parties to intercept and view your personal information. The secure connection also provides the user with increased anonymity, because the internet traffic is rerouted through an external VPN server. Since you are surfing the web via IP address of the VPN server, Your real IP addrss will remain hidden.

The VPN application runs in the background of your computer, tablet, or smartphone. You can access the internet as you normally would and won’t notice anything different – save for the fact that you’ll be able to get around online restrictions.

Why do I Need a VPN?

Maybe you’re wondering if the use of a Virtual Private Network is really necessary. An increasing part of our lives takes place online. We do our banking, keep in touch with friends, check our medical records and work online. It’s important that all this information about you doesn’t just end up on the street. After all, you don’t just leave your bank invoices lying around. If you do not secure your internet connection, you run the risk that hackers, governments, your internet provider, websites, your employer and others will find out more about you than you would like. A VPN shields your data from all these groups.

What is a VPN used for? There are many different reasons for people to start using a VPN. The biggest ones can be summarized as follows:

    1. It provides you with more online security.
    2. It increases your online privacy.
    3. It allows you to browse the internet with more freedom (as it gets you around online restrictions and censorship).
    4. It makes public Wi-Fi safer.

    What does a VPN hide?

A VPN can hide a lot of information that can put your privacy at risk. Here are five of them.

    1. Your browsing History: It’s no secret where you go on the internet. Your internet service provider and your web browser can track just about everything you do on the internet. A lot of the websites you visit can also keep a history. Web browsers can track your search history and tie that information to your IP address.

    • Your IP address :  Anyone who captures your IP address can access what you’ve been searching on the internet and where you were located when you searched. Think of your IP address as the return address you’d put on a letter. It leads back to your device.

    • Your location:  You might pay for streaming services that enable you to watch things like professional sports. When you travel outside the country, the streaming service may not be available. There are good reasons for this, including contractual terms and regulations in other countries. Even so, a VPN would allow you to select an IP address in your home country. That would likely give you access to any event shown on your streaming service. You may also be able to avoid data or speed throttling.

    • Your devices:  A VPN can help protect your devices, including desktop computer, laptop, tablet, and smart phone from prying eyes. Your devices can be prime targets for cybercriminals when you access the internet, especially if you’re on a public Wi-Fi network. In short, a VPN helps protect the data you send and receive on your devices so hackers won’t be able to watch your every move.

    • Your web activity – to maintain internet freedom: Hopefully, you’re not a candidate for government surveillance, but who knows. Remember, a VPN protects against your internet service provider seeing your browsing history. So you’re protected if a government agency asks your internet service provider to supply records of your internet activity. Assuming your VPN provider doesn’t log your browsing history (some VPN providers do), your VPN can help protect your internet freedom.

    Is VPN legal in Australia?

Using VPN is legal in Australia.

However, there are other aspects involved that you need to be aware of. 5 years ago, the Australian senate passed a legislation that allowed the government to restrict access to some websites on the internet. The mostly targeted sites by this legislation were those that supported torrenting and piracy.

Internet users still access these sites and download torrents using VPNs. Nevertheless these indispensable tools have not be banned or specifically targeted by any legislations. Their usage is still legal in the country.

Note that even though their usage is legal, using them for copyright infringement and piracy is illegal.
